School Lunch

Our hot school lunches are managed by Chartwells and are cooked fresh in school every day. Parents use “ParentPay” to pre-order and pay online for school lunches.

Children are offered choice and variety each day and can choose a vegetarian option too.

Means tested Free School Meals are available to some pupils. To find out if your child qualifies please click on the link Apply online - Free School Meals - Staffordshire County Council.

If your child is entitled to means tested free school meals they also attract funding to the school called “pupil premium”. This money is used to provide additional academic or pastoral support to children where required, priority for school clubs and free school trips.

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal as part of the Government’s Universal Free School Meals initiative.

For those children who choose to bring a packed lunch we encourage parents to include healthy sandwiches, snacks and drinks (not fizzy) and support the school in maintaining its ‘Healthy School’ ethos and practice. PRIME drink is not allowed.

All children are encouraged to bring in a named water bottle to provide refreshment throughout the day.

Breaktime snacks are available to all pupils during the morning break, provided by the school kitchen. (the kitchen is separate from the school and so all snacks must be paid for in advance on ParentPay,  there is no facility to “owe” the kitchen for snacks. consumed).

Note: all children under five receive free milk daily

Children should not bring chocolate or sweets to eat as playtime snacks but healthy snacks can be brought into school for playtime. Lollipops on sticks are NOT allowed.
